Midwifery
The Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital (CWIUH) has been chosen as the hub site for the Centre for Midwifery Education. The Centre, which was established in 2008, delivers continuing midwifery education to midwives in the three Dublin maternity hospitals, as well as to midwives in the greater Dublin area.
The CWIUH also provides the following training programmes:
4 year BSc in Midwifery Pre-Registration Programme (in association with TCD)
18 month Higher Diploma in Midwifery Post -Registration Programme (in association with TCD)
Postgraduate Diploma in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (in association with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the Rotunda Hospital and the National Maternity Hospital)
The CWIUH continues to participate in the multicentred, randomised control trial, ADCAR, which is being carried out to assess the value of routine electronic fetal monitoring on admission.
The hospital also hosts the annual Essence of Midwifery Care Conference and the Maureen McCabe Lecture (held on the International Day of the Midwife).
